“A sick day is much different when you have a kid…” Children’s Museum kissing incident suspected in bringing stomach bug into local home

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (FTN) – A local dad blames a stomach bug his family has been sharing on a kiss during a trip to the Terre Haute Children’s Museum.

Chris, Ami, and three-year-old Alex Essex have all been sick with some sort of stomach bug over the last week.

Chris and Ami were both hit at the same time, particularly hard over the weekend.

According to Chris, the bug came into the family’s home after Alex kissed a little girl at the town’s children museum.

“I’m pretty sure I am the only one that saw the kiss,” Chris said. “He was playing with this three or four year old little girl in this big club house type building…and they kissed. At that moment, I thought it was the cutest thing ever.”

He said both toddlers were playing for a while, and it looked innocent enough.

“A couple of days later, Alex started throwing up. We thought maybe it was something he ate…didn’t give it too much thought,” Ami told us.

After a trip to the park, Ami said she knew Alex was sick.

“He threw up all over himself in the car on the way home from the park…that’s when I knew something was up,” Ami said.

The next day, Chris said he suddenly started to not feel well, with a stomach bug hitting him all at once…literally.

“Um…yeah. Both. Both. It was hard,” Chris said, describing his symptoms.

The next morning, Ami started to come down with the same symptoms…but that is when Alex started feeling better.

“He was full of energy…and we were having a hard time getting off the couch. Sure, he ate…and got baths…but lets just say screen time was not a major concern. He watched a lot of Blippi,” Chris told us.

Ami was almost fully recovered by Monday, with Chris still fighting with the sickness on Tuesday.

“I took a sick day on Monday…but I’m telling you, a sick day is much different when you have a kid,” Chris said staring off.
