TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (FTN) – Two Terre Haute parents woke up in a panic when their two-year-old decided to sleep in.
It happened on Tuesday at a southern Vigo County home.
Parents Chris and Ami Essex said their toddler, Alex, usually wakes up between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. each morning.
Tuesday was different.
“If Alex is at his grandma’s we naturally wake up around 9:00,” Chris said.
When Chris and Ami woke up at 9:00, to peace and quiet, panic set in.
“I thought the app on his baby monitor we use on our iPad crashed. I jumped out of bed expecting to find a very pissed off kid” Ami said.
When she left the bedroom, she ran into an even bigger surprise.
“He was still asleep. I was kind of in shock at first. I didn’t know what to do with myself. I stood there for about 30 seconds kind of confused,” Ami said.
She told us she is use to having to multitask as soon as she gets out of bed.
“Usually it is coffee while making breakfast while worrying about a wet sheet because he peed the bed,” Ami said. “I just made coffee and it was nice.”
That is until Alex woke up about two minutes later.
“I don’t even think I made it out of bed yet,” Chris said. “I was fishing for my glasses, checking notifications on my phone.”
Both parents say they are trying to crack the code of what led to the 9:00 wake up.
