TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (FTN) – An investigation is underway after a grisly discovery on Terre Haute’s south side.
Police tell FTN they discovered a dismembered potato in what appears to be a makeshift construction site.
The potato was identified as Mr. Potato Head.
According to officials, Head was last seen about a week ago at the bottom of a toy box.
“It’s unclear why he surfaced now.” Sheriff Woody said. “We haven’t heard from him in a while, it’s an active investigation.”
This isn’t the first time police have feared the worst for Head.
“From time to time, we would find body parts scattered in random places, you know, an arm here, his legs there…but somehow they always found their way home.” The sheriff said.
The makeshift construction site was located in one-year-old Alex Essex’s bedroom.
“We found a dump truck and another construction like truck with a face that seems to…I don’t know, eat toys?” Woody told us.
We asked Essex for a comment.
“Dad-De De. Nene! Potty. Potty. Potty. Bye!” Essex said.
That is when he threw a sippy cup and left the room.
Police say he may be tired.
It’s unclear if Essex is a suspect at this time.
We will continue to follow this developing story and bring you more information as soon as it becomes available.
